Tallest Lord Vishnu statue in the world, not in India

The Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is located in Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali, Indonesia. It was inaugurated in September 2018 and designed by Nyoman Nuarata.

The GWK statue is a monument of Hindu Lord Vishnu riding Garuda, as per the holy Rigveda, Garuda is considered as a divine eagle-like sun bird and the king of birds. The interesting tale behind the statue is that Garuda agreed to be ridden by the Lord Vishnu in return for the right to use the elixir (Amrita) to liberate his enslaved mother.

The complete height of the monument is 122m (400 ft) including the 46-meter base pedestal. The statue is 98 ft higher than Statue of Liberty but Liberty is tall and thin, while Garuda is almost as outspread as it is tall, the only wingspan is 210 ft. The monument was formed to be Indonesia’s tallest statue. It took around 28 years and aprrox $100 million (756 crores rupees) to construct this titanic statue.
